Beyond the Choir operated as a grassroots strategy and training organization from 2005 through 2018. Its training program focused on how grassroots organizations and social movements can persuade, mobilize, and organize broader social bases — and what stands in the way of doing so effectively. Beyond the Choir provided training and strategy support for many organizations and movements, including Sunrise Movement, Dream Defenders, Working Families Party, People’s Action, MoveOn.org, Electronic Frontier Foundation, Occupy Wall Street, and more.

After incubating Lancaster Stands Up, PA Stands Up, and Common Defense 2016-2018, Beyond the Choir turned over its resources to these organizations and was dissolved.

The Popular Comms Institute is proud to serve as the new organizational home for the Beyond the Choir training program.
